Alan’s Song

Far away near the ice cream peaks
Where the morning dew splinters the early light
Far beneath the cotton clouds and diamond rain
The toy town comes alive

The blanket of sleep is pulled away
And there’s the sound of another day
With the eyes of the flowers everything opens
Up to catch the suns dancing rays

And there riding the breeze with effortless ease
The black mare with the chestnut mane
The wind gently plays with her satin sheen
And she swears she would never be tamed

Flying high in the rainbow sky
She carries the bird with fluorescent shine
Happiness spreads down from Buddha’s bane
With the warmth of her kaleidoscope eyes

Watching from high the motions of toy town life
Who are you and where’ve you been
A child’s happiness evolves from her smile
When she knows she can’t be seen

Then she danced around in a whirlwind of air
And she came down to lay by me
Made me candy, a smile, a kiss and rode off
Towards the darkness of the east

When darkness comes to shine her jeweled stars
And leaves only the sound of distant feet
A blanket of Love dims the flickering lights
And toy town goes to sleep
