A Taste Of True Freedom

With all the crazy unusual things happening around the world at the moment, is it any wonder that there are people looking towards the sky for armageddon and the image of salvation.

One thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of people are a bit squeaky in the hinges.
They do their best to hide it behind a mask of civility or new age saccharine but when things start to become unhinged in the bigger picture it gets harder for them to keep their insecurities hidden.
So they start to look for reasons, scapegoats and saviours.

It is so easy to blame something outside of ourselves for the pain we feel or for feelings that make us feel uncomfortable.
All we know of the outside world is experienced inside our consciousness so does that mean that reality exists only in our minds?
That without our minds to filter the information we experience, it would all be a jumble of atomic proportions that would surely overload us, break our squeaky hinges and send us over the waterfalls of madness.

So, does the notion of an armageddon exist within the confines of reality?

People have thought so throughout the pages of history.
Plague, war, famine, natural disasters and man made fuck ups have all led people to believe that the end is nigh.

So how did they feel when the clock struck the foretold moment and nothing happened?

Some would have felt let down in a big way.
Some would have rationalized it as being saved by the grace of some omnipotent being who suddenly changed his mind at the last moment because he loved us too much to destroy us or…..maybe he just had something better to do.

The build up to the desired moment is a bit like a relationship.
Beginning with attraction, the tease of flirtation, the promise of the fulfillment of desire, and then the consummation of that desire.

When it doesn’t quite turn out the way we expect, then the real trouble begins as rationalizations and someone or something to blame is looked for.
This enables the release of the anger and rage from feeling that disappointment, instead of just accepting the fact that they might have been wrong or had been taken for a ride.
I mean nobody likes to admit they’ve been a fool, do they?

So all of you who can understand what I’m rambling on about, sit back and watch something that has been repeated throughout the centuries unfold before your eyes.
A valuable lesson still unlearnt.

Hopefully it wont end in burnings and hangings and mass slaughter as has happened in the past.
I hope we have evolved and matured enough to be past all of that and will finally learn the simple fact that even though we are all unhinged in some way, we have the ability to oil those hinges and so they don’t rust and break.
That we are capable of looking inwards towards ourselves for any salvation we feel we may need, that we are responsible for every thought and action we commit in this strange, tragic but beautiful world.
We are capable of self responsibility for all we do and in doing so we give ourselves a taste of true freedom.
